Product Description
DSIP, short for Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, is an endogenous linear nonapeptide neuropeptide that can cross the blood-brain barrier. It is widely adopted in research projects concerning neuroendocrinology, sleep mechanisms and stress injury. Effects observed in laboratory studies are listed below:
1. Regulation of deep delta slow-wave sleep (core research field)
It modulates central GABA and NMDA neurotransmitter pathways and enhances the activity of brain delta waves. In animal models, it shortens sleep onset latency, prolongs restorative deep sleep and optimizes sleep cycle architecture. Relevant experiments show no addictive properties or hangover side effects typical of sedatives. It is applicable to animal model tests for jet lag, circadian rhythm disorders and sleep disturbances.
2. Modulate the HPA stress axis and alleviate stress response
As a stress buffer factor, it suppresses excessive secretion of ACTH and cortisol under stress and reduces overexcitation of the sympathetic nervous system. Studies on chronic anxiety and long-term stress models have verified its capacity to relieve stress-induced neural hyperactivity.
3. Neuroprotection and antioxidant capacity
It antagonizes glutamate-mediated excitotoxicity, improves mitochondrial antioxidant capacity in brain tissue, and reduces neuronal apoptosis caused by oxidative stress, cerebral ischemia and trauma. It is used in cell and animal experiments for brain injury, stroke and neurodegeneration research.
4. Neuroendocrine regulation & tissue repair research
It stimulates the secretion of growth hormone (GH) during deep sleep windows for exploring bodily tissue repair mechanisms. Meanwhile, it regulates the release of thyroid-stimulating and gonadotropic hormones, making it suitable for assays on stress-triggered endocrine imbalance.
5. Analgesic effect & neural sedation
It acts on endorphin-related pathways to raise thresholds and exerts mild analgesic activity for pharmacological studies on chronic inflammatory and neuropathic ; it also delivers mild anticonvulsant effects in lab trials.
6. Research on immune homeostasis
Via the neuroendocrine-immune network, it mitigates stress-caused immune disorders, serving as a common tool peptide for interdisciplinary studies combining stress and immunology.
