Product Description
Application
(1)Monobenzone is the monobenzyl of . Monobenzone occurs as a white, almost tasteless
crystalline powder, soluble in alcohol and practically insoluble in water.
(2)Monobenzone is a compound used as a topical drug for medical depigmentation. The topical application of
monobenzone in animals decreases the excretion of melanin from melanocytes. The same action is thought to be
responsible for the depigmenting effect of the drug in humans. Monobenzone may cause destruction of melanocytes
thus, bringing about permanent dipigmentation in vitiligo patients.
(3)Monobenzone is the monobenzyl of . Monobenzone powder can be compounded to make a
depigmenting cream. It is used to whiten patchy skin and create and even skin tone that is pale and smooth.
(4)Monobenzone USP, is a strong depigmentation agent, used to treat the patients suffering from vitiligo.
(5)Monobenzone 20% ointment is used specifically for vitiligo.
Introduction |
Monobenzone can decompose melanin in the skin, and prevent the formation of melanin in the skin, used for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, such as various spots, age spots, melanoma. In addition as intermediates in organic synthesis. |
Function |
The topical application of monobenzone in animals increases the excretion of melanin from melanocytes. The same action is thought to be responsible for the depigmenting effect of the drug in humans. Monobenzone may cause destruction of melanocytes and permanent depigmentation. The histology of the skin after depigmentation with topical monobenzone is the same as that seen in vitiligo; the epidermis is normal except for the absence of identifiable melanocytes. Therefore, monobenzone is used as a topical medicine to permanently depigment normal skin surrounding vitiliginous lesions only in patients with disseminated (greater than 50 percent of body surface area) idiopathic vitiligo. Monobenzone is also being considered for the treatment of Melanoma. Monobenzone is also used to derive dyes for fiber dyeing and is used in the rubber industry. |
