α- Arbutin, also known as arbutin, has the chemical formula of C12H16O7. It is an ingredient extracted from the leaves of arbutin, a rhododendron plant. It can inhibit the activity of tyrosinase in the body and prevent the formation of melanin, thus reducing the deposition of skin pigment, removing spots and freckles.
